Obesity and Weightloss

Homeopathy – an Aid to Weight Loss

According to statistics(published 04.04.2018) by the Health and Social Care Information Centre , in 2016 26% of adults were classified obese. In 2016/17  1 in 5 children in year 6 and 1 in 10 children in Reception were classified obese. This is of great concern because excess weight can have devastating effects on health, leading to psychological problems, a higher incidence of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer (prostate, colon, and breast) and arthritis. To embrace a weight loss program means therefore to remain healthy or to become healthier and fitter and to prevent serious illness.
However, there are obstacles to healthy weight loss, such as low thyroid function, diabetes or insulin resistance, malnutrition caused by a poor diet, high cortisol levels and stress, sleep disorders, and hormonal imbalances. These need to be addressed with the help of a professional.

The goals of reducing weight

•    To prevent further weight gain
•    To gradually lose weight with a calorie controlled diet and regular exercise
•    To improve general health and energy levels

Changes you can make to lose weight

•    Educate yourself on how to eat healthily,  contact a nutritionist or join a weight loss club.
•    Eat real food. Cook, using fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, lean cuts of meat. Avoid sugar, instead use in moderation natural sweeteners such as honey or dried fruit. Try to buy locally grown produce that is in season. Watch calorie intake from alcoholic drinks.
•    Exercise regularly, including aerobics, weights and stretching, and have fun.
•    Seek the help of a professional to remove possible obstacles to weight loss.

Various natural remedies can help speed up weight loss if coupled with the above changes. Homeopathic remedies work best if they are suited to one’s particular nature. A few frequently used aids to weight loss include the following:
