About Me

Maya Monk-Schenk (MSc Medical Anthropology, LCCH, fully qualified and registered as a Senior Practitioner (SBRCP Homeopathy) with The British Register of Complementary Practitioners (BRCP) where I am also listed as a Life Coach. I abide by the BRCP’s Code of Ethics and Practice.

I gained my Licence to Practice in 2001 from the London College of Classical Homeopathy.

As a classical homeopath I work according to the principles set out by the founder of homeopathy, Dr Samuel Hahnemann and his followers.  However, as we are living in a rapidly developing period, I am committed to continuous  professional development as well as  learning about discoveries in science and technology.

I originally trained as a druggist (in UK Pharmacist or Chemist) in my native country, Switzerland. After relocation to the UK, I studied to become a teacher. Initially I taught English to Speakers of Other Languages  (ESOL) and later German and French in secondary school, further education and then lectured at university.

As I am passionate about working with, and motivating others, these years taught me much about people from all walks of life, different ethnicities and cultures. This, and raising children, holds the key for me to understand and help clients of all ages and backgrounds.

I am committed to a person centred, holistic approach that includes self care, which is important for people with chronic ailments. Fo this, my training in Life Coaching has become a useful tool in my practice. For example if  life style strategies are necessary for the benefit of a client but are difficult to achieve, finding the obstacle and gentle coaching often brings about the desired change.

As part of continuous professional development I gained an MSc in Medical Anthropology in order to understand patients’ attitude, beliefs and behaviour regarding health and illness. I am particularly interested in assisting clients overcoming life traumas and coping with stress, which tend to manifest on the physical, psychological as well as the mental level.

In my spare time I enjoy learning languages, walking my dogs, pottery, learning to play the guitar and the oboe.
